As you might guess, wire sawing involves using a piece of wire as a saw to cut through different types of materials. These compact metal saws can be made from a single wire or from multiple wires that have been braided together to make a cable. In some cases, they are diamond-coated in order to allow them to cut through materials like glass or tile.
Wire saws offer quite a few advantages. For one thing, they remove very little of the original material during the cutting process. The slit that is made by the wire is usually much narrower than a slit made by a traditional saw blade. As a result, far less material is wasted.
